ShelfTrack (“the app”) helps you scan barcodes, compare grocery prices, manage shopping lists,
track pantry stock, read expiry dates, and ask an AI assistant about products and stores.
We respect your privacy and keep most data on your device.

What data is stored on your phone?
The app stores data locally in SQLite on your device. This includes:
- Shopping lists and list items
- Purchase history and pantry / kitchen inventory
- Cached product information and price snapshots
- AI chat history in the Ask AI tab (until you clear the chat or uninstall the app)
- App settings and an anonymous device identifier used for AI usage limits
This data stays on your phone unless you back up your device yourself. We do not sync it to our own cloud.
What data is sent to services when you use the app?

Camera — used when you scan barcodes or read expiry dates on labels.
Images are processed on your device (OCR). We do not upload photos to our servers.

Barcode (EAN) — sent to
Open Food Facts to look up product name, brand, and image
where available.

AI assistant (Ask AI) — when you send a message, the app sends your chat messages,
optional scanned product context, your device language and country/region (not GPS),
an anonymous device ID, and subscription status to our backend API.
Our API processes requests using OpenAI.
The assistant may also use web search for store links and product information when needed.
Chat usage is limited per month; we store quota counts linked to your anonymous device ID on our server.

Subscriptions — if you subscribe to remove ads, purchases are handled by
Google Play and RevenueCat.
We receive subscription status (for example, whether Pro is active), not your payment card details.

Advertising — the free version shows banner ads via
Google AdMob.
AdMob may collect device and usage data according to
Google’s privacy policy.

Product catalog (optional) — if enabled, the app may query a read-only product catalog
hosted on Supabase to show store prices and promotions.
Queries typically include product identifiers or search terms, not personal profile data.

Feedback email — if you choose “Send feedback” in Settings, your email app opens
with our support address. We only receive what you choose to send.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account to use the app.
- We do not collect your name, home address, or precise GPS location.
- We do not sell your personal data.
Third-party services
Retention
- On your phone — until you delete data in the app, clear chat, or uninstall.
- AI quota on our server — usage counters are kept per month for fair-use limits.
- Third parties — each provider keeps data according to its own policy.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict
processing of personal data, and to object or lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Because most data is stored locally, you can delete it by uninstalling the app or clearing lists,
history, and chat inside the app. For questions about data we process on our servers, contact

Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
